2008 Champions - Colonial Road Runners

Thanks to all Colonials who ran and volunteered.  All three teams and support crew worked hard to bring back the trophy to CRR.  Thanks also to family, friends and members who cheered the teams on.  It was a great day for showing the strength and unity of our membership,  a great day for bringing our families and friends together, and of course a great day for camaraderie and competition between ourselves and other running clubs--an outstanding job by all!

Just four years ago, Colonial had the honor of being the first club to win the Marathon Relay Challenge.  It's time to bring the Challenge Cup back to CRR!

This year all members are welcome to participate, regardless of ability.  We will fill as many teams as it takes to allow everyone to the opportunity to take part in this unique competition between area running clubs.  Each team will have 26 members, with each member running 1 mile, and one member making up the .2 mile difference.  In addition, each team must have a minimum of 10 women.  Splits for each mile will be added up, and the team with the fastest total time wins the competition.

The event is put on by the Marshfield Road Runners, and proceeds benefit the Marshfield Youth Track program.  CRR will cover the entry fee for all current Colonial members who wish to participate.

The attached flyer explains a little more about the history of the challenge, amenities, awards, rules and directions.  In addition it contains the registration form.  If you are interested in being a part of the CRR team, you must sign-up by June 15th.  In order to best plan our teams and allow everyone who wants to participate the opportunity to do so teams will be filled on a first-come, first served basis.  After June 15th, we will start a waiting list.  We cannot guarantee which team you might be assigned to until after June 15th, but if you have a preference to a particular leg you may indicate so on the application.

Signed waivers are required for all members, however to expedite the formation of our teams you may initially e-mail the following information to Tom Yellope, who will be coordinating the teams.  We will require a signed copy of the waiver prior to June 28th.
